In this article we will discuss how to create and register a Baidu Account from outside China without Chinese Phone Number – Baidu wangpan Login. Creating a Baidu account is essential if you want your website to appear in this mega Chinese Search Engine. A Baidu account will enable you to submit your website to the Baidu Webmaster Tools which in turn will make your website appear in this Chinese only search engine to the vast population of China. Not only that, a Baidu Account will also help in Downloads, Baidu Cloud and so many other things.

WHAT IS BAIDU?

Baidu is a Chinese only Search Engine and is the market leader in China in terms of Search Engines. Most people in China use Baidu to search on the web. If you have a website for which you want a global audience than appearance in this Search Engine is going to attract a lot more visitors to your website. Not only it increases the reach for your website but it also can get you the competitive edge on your competitor websites if they are not appearing on Baidu. 

HOW TO CREATE BAIDU ACCOUNT FROM OUTSIDE CHINA

If you reside in China, than creating a Baidu account is really easy. You just need to go to Baidu.com and register with your Chinese Mobile Phone Number and voila! your account is created. The tricky part is when you try and create the account from outside China from your Overseas Phone Number. 

If you are lucky then the straightforward method will work for you but if you are like me and get stuck at the following errors than the procedure becomes a little technical.

TYPES OF ERRORS WHEN REGISTERING BAIDU ACCOUNT

• The system detects that the current account is registered through an illegal channel.

• Registration for Overseas and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions is not supported at this time.

• System cannot process your request at this time. Please try again later.

• System error, take a break, please try again later

I had to create my Baidu account the hard way. I got stuck on “the system detects that the current account is registered through an illegal channel” error and searched for a few days until I found the solution and created my Baidu Account.  The method also works with the other errors as well.

You can use the following 2 methods to create your Baidu Account / Baidu Wangpan Login. Try the Method 1 first as it is easy and straight forward. If all goes well then your account will be created but if you get stuck then try the Method 2. If you are already facing errors then click here to go straight to Method 2.

Most of the Screenshots you will find below are translated in English through Google Translate, so you can understand better. I would suggest you do the same so as to avoid any confusion.  If you are using Google Chrome, then in order to translate the page into English just right click on the page when it is loaded and click on Translate to English and it will do the trick. 

METHOD 1 – THE STRAIGHT FORWARD WAY TO CREATING A BAIDU ACCOUNT

• Go to this Link
• Translate the language into English
• Select your Country Code
• Enter your Phone Number
• Create a Username and Password
• Click on Send Verification Code
• Once you receive the Verification code on your phone, enter it into the Verification Area
• Check the Read and accept Baidu Terms
• Click on Register to create your Baidu Account

If you are able to receive the Verification code on your phone than your account will be created without any problem. Unfortunately people don’t receive the verification code but get various errors on screen. You might get following errors when you try and send the verification code to your overseas phone number:

• Registration for Overseas and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Regions is not supported at this time.

• System cannot process your request at this time. Please try again later.

That is where you need to use the Method 2. Following is the procedure of how you can overcome all the errors and successfully create your Baidu Account.

METHOD 2 – THE OTHER WAY AROUND – CREATE BAIDU ACCOUNT FROM OUTSIDE CHINA – NO CHINESE PHONE NUMBER REQUIRED TO REGISTER BAIDU ACCOUNT

Once you are stuck at the Registration Screen and after unsuccessfully attempting several times to get the verification code, you are left with no choice but to use this method. Following are the steps for how to create Baidu Account from outside China:

• Click on this Link. We are going to try and create the account from Baidu Cloud Login and not from the main Baidu Registration page.

• Click on Sign in with SMS Code at the bottom.

• Click on the Country Code (+86 in this case) and choose the country of your residence. Please note the method will only work if your country code is showing on the drop down list.

• Enter your Phone Number and Press “Send Dynamic Password”.

• You will receive a Dynamic Password on your phone. The SMS will look something like this.

Word of Advice: If you are not getting the Code after trying a few times then try the same link with a different browser. For example, if you are using Chrome then try using Safari or Firefox. • Enter the Dynamic Password you received on your phone on Screen and Press Login.

• A Pop-up will appear suggesting this number has not been registered before and you need to register it. Click on Register Now.

• Another Pop-up will appear where you will have to do the verification that you are a human.

• After Successful Verification you will then see the next screen ” Welcome to Baidu AI Cloud”.

• Fill out a Username in Contact Field.

• At this moment no email address is associated with your Account. To add a email address Click on Go to Settings right next to Email.

• It will open a new window where you can see your Account Settings.

• The Second Option in the picture above next to the envelope sign is that for email. Click on the link next to it and it will open a pop up window.

• It will require verification and and your phone number will show up on the screen. Press Send Code and you will receive a code on your phone.

• Enter the code on screen and Click Next. Once done add the email address and it will bind your email address with the account.

• Next you go back to the Welcome to Baidu AI Cloud screen and Refresh the page. It will show you your email address now associated with your Baidu ID.

• Just fill out all the options on the screen. It could be random as well and Press Next.

• You will now see your Baidu Account Settings. Translate the page into English and Go to Authentication on the left sidebar of the screen.

• (UPDATE: as pointed out by one of the comments) If you are unable to go the the Baidu Account Settings automatically then click here to access the Settings.

• Setup your Login Credentials by creating a username and password for your Baidu Account.

• Once Done. Your account is now created and you will see a score out of 100 on the screen. This score is your Account Security Score and will let you know how secure your account is.

• You can check your account details by logging in through the main Baidu Login page by clicking here. Click the Login option on screen and use your Login Credentials to Login to your Account.
