How to get your website to appear in Google and other Search Engines like Bing, Yahoo, etc.

The biggest objective for any website is to get as many visitors as possible and most readers find your website using Search Engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo etc. If you are reading this then by now you should have your website setup and published. If not then you can read our previous post “How to create your own Website without any Computer Knowledge” to setup your website.
Once the website is setup and published, the real question then is how will your website appear in Google and other search engines like Bing, Yahoo, etc. This is important because the information available on internet is very vast and to narrow it down and look for relevant topic search engines are used and if your website isn’t appearing in search engines then it will not get many readers. Once your website or blog starts appearing in these Search Engines you will start to get visitors regularly on your website.
WHAT IS A SEARCH ENGINE?
Search engines are websites that search through World Wide Web to locate for keywords in other websites. These search engines are used to look for information specific to your topics that you are looking for. Many such search engines exist and almost everyone uses them to look for the information on the internet. Most popular ones are:
HOW TO GET YOUR WEBSITE TO APPEAR IN GOOGLE AND OTHER SEARCH ENGINES LIKE BING, YAHOO, ETC.
In order to get your website to appear in search engines, follow these steps:
- Verify Ownership on following Search Engines
- Create Sitemap for your website
- Submit your website to Search Engines
After following these 3 steps your website should appear in the search engines. Keep in mind, sometimes your website can show up instantly but it can also take upto 4 weeks for your website to be seen on these Search Engines. Patience is the key here. You are doing nothing wrong, it is just that sometimes it takes longer for search engines to index your website.

UPDATING YOUR WEBSITE
The above procedure is for the website to appear on the search engines but websites are updated regularly and with each new post, a new webpage (permalink) will be created. In order for it to be indexed by google, do the following:
- Update your sitemap after each new post
- Submit the updated sitemap again
The procedure is not as difficult as it looks from the outset. The rewards are great once your website is appearing on Google, Bing or Yahoo etc.
